2015 $1 100 Years of Commonwealth Management of Lighthouses Perth Mint Coin & Stamp Cover PNC.

On 1 July 1915 the Commonwealth of Australia officially accepted responsibility from the State Governments for all landfall and coastal lights around Australia. Today the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is responsible for maintaining aids to navigation at some 388 sites around the 37,600 kilometres of Australia’s coastlines.

This uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a specially designed card with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs. The coin is issued as Australian legal tender. This fantastic Stamp & Coin Cover would make the perfect gift or collectable. The coin’s reverse features a lighthouse set on a rocky cliff with waves lapping beneath it. From the lighthouse a beam of light shines into the night sky. The design includes the inscription ‘CENTENAR OF THE AUSTRALIAN LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ Mintmark.

The coin’s obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2015 Year-date. Affixed to the envelope are four official Australia Post 70c Stamps. The stamps are postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.

This stamp issues feature four historic and architecturally diverse Australian lighthouses. Cape Byron, New South Wales (1901); Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia (1896); North Reef, Queensland (1878); and Tasman Island, Tasmania (1906).
